Heteromeles Arbutifolia - Toyon (5 Gallon)

About this item

Bring year-round beauty and vibrant seasonal color to your garden with Toyon, a beloved California native evergreen shrub. Also known as California holly, this versatile plant develops a naturally rounded form and glossy, leathery dark green leaves with distinctive toothed edges.

In early summer, clusters of delicate white flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators. As the seasons change, the flowers give way to brilliant red berries that brighten the landscape from late fall through winter, providing a valuable food source for birds and other wildlife.

Tough, adaptable, and drought-tolerant once established, Toyon is an excellent choice for native gardens, dry slopes, privacy screens, and informal hedges. With selective pruning, it can also be shaped into an attractive small tree. Its resilience, wildlife value, and year-round foliage make it a wonderful addition to water-wise and wildlife-friendly landscapes.
