Fremontodendron 'California Glory' California flannel bush (15 Gallon)

About this item

Make a bold statement in your landscape with California Glory Hybrid Flannel Bush, a fast-growing California native hybrid prized for its dramatic form and spectacular golden blooms. This evergreen shrub or small tree develops an upright, spreading habit with strong architectural structure, making it a striking focal point in native and water-wise gardens.

Its soft-textured, lobed gray-green foliage provides year-round interest, while large, cup-shaped yellow flowers with distinctive orange-red undersides burst into bloom from spring through early summer. The abundant blossoms create a brilliant display that brings warmth and color to dry landscapes.

California Glory is well suited to specimen planting, informal screening, espalier, and dry slopes. For best performance, plant in full sun and well-drained soil, and keep summer irrigation to a minimum once established. Allow plenty of room for its mature size, and choose a location away from frequently touched pathways and seating areas, as the fine hairs on its leaves can irritate skin and eyes.
